Jason Cooper is the founder and CEO of Byron Corporation, a real estate investment and redevelopment company he established in 1983. For more than four decades, he has led the company with a focus on revitalizing properties, strengthening communities, and delivering high-quality, energy-efficient housing.

Deeply engaged in civic and environmental initiatives, Jason has served on the Brattleboro Town Energy Committee and has been a member of the Co-op Power Steering Committee. He also supports community recreation and conservation through his involvement with Friends of the West River Trail and Friends of Island Park.

Under Jason’s leadership, Byron Corporation has become a leader in sustainable redevelopment. Over the past two decades, the company has implemented comprehensive deep-energy retrofits across its portfolio, utilizing advanced weatherization techniques and cutting-edge building technologies to significantly improve efficiency, comfort, and environmental performance.

Jason is committed to environmentally responsible development practices. His projects prioritize the elimination of environmental hazards and the transition away from fossil fuels, replacing them with modern, efficient electric systems. These include installing EV chargers and state-of-the-art heat pumps that provide individualized heating and cooling, enhancing both tenant comfort and energy savings.

Affordability is central to Byron Corporation’s mission. By investing in high-efficiency systems such as on-demand hot water and water-saving fixtures, the company has dramatically reduced energy and water consumption—lowering operating costs and enabling more stable, affordable rents. These efforts have also contributed to consistently low tenant turnover.
